How To Volunteer
The first step is to attend a volunteer orientation. Orientations are required for all volunteer positions and happen a few times monthly. Volunteers 16 yrs old or under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The second step is to determine what kind of volunteer you would like to be.
Animal Care
Events
Help us keep our animals healthy, clean and fed! These volunteers help clean out kennels, scoop litter boxes, change linens, give them food and fresh water etc. After the cleaning and feeding chores are complete there is opportunity for giving the cats love and social enrichment.
Event Volunteers help us throughout the year at a variety of opportunities throughout the county. From adoption events to tabling to fundraisers, event volunteers brings FCAR to the community.
We have other volunteer opportunities as well: we always need help with keeping the grass mowed, the snow shoveled in the winter, as well as all kinds of one time projects. Whether you’re great with people, handy with tools, creative, organized, or just love animals, your talents can make a difference. After retiring, I knew I wanted to help out at FCAR and volunteer a few hours a week. I soon realized that there is also a great need to foster our furry friends. So for the past 20 months or so, I've fostered 2 sets of kittens with their mothers and several individual cats that just needed some one on one time and lots of loving. These were cats that have been neglected or abandoned or mistreated, and just needed someone to love them and reinstate their confidence in people.

Volunteering with FCAR has definitely been rewarding! There is a variety of fun and important volunteer opportunities for everyone. FCAR staff is very welcoming and spending time with the animals is amazing!
